Colour-coded marking
Viega Megapress S is not suitable for drinking water and fresh water applications. Each individual press connector is clearly identified by a marking (in this case, on the rear). For improved system identification, Megapress S is marked with white dots on each press connection of the connectors.

Use
With dimensions of up to 2 inches, the Megapress S system provides an ideal way of connecting to local and district heat supply systems (in accordance with AGFW FW 524). Suitable for higher thermal loads of up to 140 °C, Megapress S XL, up to 4 inches, is ideal for use in industrial environments.
Megapress S: quick, clean, safe and completely weld-free
Whether they’re seamless or longitudinally welded, industrially painted or epoxy-coated, black or galvanised, thick-walled steel pipes are versatile, durable and robust. However, in the past, welding was often required to connect them. With its press connectors in the Megapress S system, Viega offers an alternative to welding that is safer, easier and more economical. This means that even thick-walled steel pipes can be connected without any problems.

Megapress S in building services – simple connection of old and new
Thick-walled steel pipes are particularly common in old buildings and therefore in refurbishment projects as well. The robust pipes are often in good condition and can be reused. However, until now, the process of connecting a new boiler usually called for complex adapters or welding. The installation process was sometimes delayed by the residual water that had to drain out and, in old buildings, welding often resulted in an increased risk of fire. Megapress S makes welding superfluous and enables a secure and fast connection to existing pipes.
Industrial and plant engineering
As part of its Megapress S system, Viega offers flow-optimised press connectors made of non-alloy 1.0308 steel. These have a zinc-nickel coating to protect them against external corrosion, e.g. as a result of condensation water in cooling systems. The press connectors are available in sizes from ⅜ of an inch to 4 inches and, with their stainless steel compression ring, ensure the load-bearing capacity of the connection. This makes them ideal for industrial and plant engineering contexts. Large dimensions tend to be used for cooling systems in industrial settings. Megapress S XL is ideal for this with its XL dimensions of 2½ to 4 inches, which completely eliminate the need for welding even in large cooling systems.
Local and district heat systems
Megapress S – whose dimensions range from ⅜ of an inch to 2 inches – can also be used to create press connections for thick-walled steel pipes in local and district heat systems with absolute ease. The press connectors can be used from the point of entry to the building for primary and secondary circuits with indirect connections, as well as for systems with direct connections. The FKM round sealing element used is suitable for temperatures up to 140 °C. Furthermore, Megapress S satisfies the stringent requirements of AGFW Worksheet FW 524.
Compressed air systems and technical gases
Steel pipes are also frequently used in compressed air systems and piping networks for technical gases such as nitrogen. The cold press connection technology facilitates installation in the ceiling area of industrial buildings and enables convenient T-piece installation for extra fast, safe, and clean connection to appliances.
Special features of the Megapress S system
Press connection technology for steel pipes of any size
Whether the project you are working on involves old or new buildings, Viega Megapress S allows you to connect any pipes between ⅜ of an inch and 4 inches in just a few steps. However, the pipes concerned must conform to the requirements of DIN EN 10255 for threaded pipe quality or DIN EN 10220/10216-1 and DIN EN 10220/10217-1 for boiler pipe quality.
Connections that are ready to bear the full load straight away without any cooling time
After the pressing process, the connection between the press connector and the pipe can bear the full load and is ready for use immediately. Eliminate waiting or cooling times and the need for a fire watch.
Even XL steel pipes can be pressed – thanks to the Pressgun Press Booster
Effortlessly press large steel pipes in sizes ranging from 2½ to 4 inches with our Pressgun Press Booster. Simply attach it to the Viega Pressgun and then press as usual. The specially developed hinged adapter jaw works in combination with the Megapress XL press rings to ensure maximum flexibility. The integrated carrying strap and the handle on the hinged adapter jaw also make the Pressgun Press Booster an ergonomic all-rounder for any application.

High level of safety thanks to the Viega SC-Contur
The Viega SC-Contur feature is included on every press connector from the Megapress S system, ensuring that any inadvertently unpressed connection points will visibly leak. It also allows the entire system to be monitored with a centralised leakage test. This eliminates the need for time-consuming visual checks while ensuring safety and at the same time reducing the amount of work required.
Recognisable at a glance: not suitable for drinking and fresh water
Viega Megapress S is not suitable for the installation of drinking water pipelines. Each press connector has a clearly visible marking. This rules out the possibility of confusion or accidentally using Viega Megapress S incorrectly.
